Week 2: The Importance of Emotional Intelligence

In week two, you will learn the definition of Emotional Intelligence and be introduced to Abbey Research's famous ‘trampoline talk’ to help you better understand EQ.

Week 3: The Power of Vulnerability

This week we'll explore Dr. Brené Brown's definition of 'vulnerability' and you'll learn why it's a key skill related to emotional intelligence.

Week 4: The Courage to Question

This lesson will help you explore how and when you respond to situations defensively. It will then provide some communication models to help you learn different approaches.

Week 5: Defensive Leadership

In this lesson, you'll be examining the concept of defensive leadership through the case study of the Larry Nassar abuse scandal within USA Gymnastics.

Week 6: Our Values at Work

For this lesson, you'll be working on understanding your cultural and personal values. Knowing your values is a big part of practicing empathy.

Week 7: Empathy & Understanding

We'll be looking at our concept of empathy and learning why we think it's much more about understanding than emotions.

Week 8: The Practice of Curiosity

This week we'll be spending some time with the idea of intersectionality and learning about active listening and asking better questions can help us understand difference.

Week 9: Emotional Literacy & The Stories We Tell

For this lesson we'll be exploring the concept of emotional literacy and then spend some time unpacking how we tell ourselves stories that impact how we live and work.

Week 10: The American Culture of Burnout

We'll finish the course by explaining why America has a toxic culture of burnout, and give you steps to practice healthy self-care and boundary setting.

Week 1: Starting Your Internship

Congratulations on becoming a CRI intern! Whether you are working for the CRI or have an external placement - we are delighted to have you on the team! This week you will submit your internship contract, internship goals, and your Strengthsfinder results.

Week 4: Project Outline

This week you are required to submit the outline for your internship project. You are required to submit an outline if you are working for the CRI or working for an external placement.

Week 7: Project Update

This week you will submit an update on your project. Each update should include progress on your original goals, any limitations you are facing, and an evaluation of your ability to reach your stated goals and outcomes. Updates can be submitted in written (Word Doc) format or creatively (video, PPT presentation).
